报告简介:
The presentation gives a brief introduction into empirical research and discusses its importance for software engineering. Recently published studies are used to illustrate how empirical research helps analyse the effectiveness and efficiency of software engineering tools and techniques, and how empirical studies contribute to the design of new techniques and tools and the development of supporting theories.
报告人简介:
I joined the Software Engineering Research Group (SERG) in the Computer Science Department of the Faculty of Engineering (LTH) at Lund University on August 15, 2010. My employment with LTH will terminate on September 30, 2012. Currently, I am also director of Pika Research Inc., which I founded in Claresholm, Canada, in August 2009, before joining LTH.
From January 2008 until December 2009, I was employed with Simula Research Laboratory in Oslo, Norway. I held a full-time research position (Post Doctoral Fellow) in the Software Engineering department until July 2009, and after that, until December 2009, a temporary part-time research position (Adjunct Research Scientist) related to the BEST project in the Software Engineering department. In addition, I have held temporary part-time positions as Adjunct Associate Professor (January 2008 to December 2010) and as Adjunct Professor (Professor II, May to December 2011) in the Informatics Department (IfI) at the University of Oslo.
Before joining Simula, from July 2005 until December 2007, I was with the University of Calgary, Canada, researching and teaching in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Schulich School of Engineering, first as Assistant Professor and since July 2007 as Associate Professor. Since my resignation from the University of Calgary, I have been appointed Adjunct Professor (current term ends in June 2014).
